JA Biztown ~ May, 2011!

Jared and his friends had a great opportunity to participate in Junior Achievement's Biztown at the end of May. "BizTown encourages students to learn about the free enterprise system by participating in a simulated town."  Participants had to complete a series of lessons before attending two days of seminars and then one day for the simulation. I still need to get several pictures from other parents, but here are some from my friend, Corine.

The first seminar day was held at The Broadway Palm Theatre. All the kids had to submit job applications and interview for their top choices. Our good friend, Kennedy (on the left,) was the CEO of University of Phoenix, and Jared became the IRS agent for City Hall (his top choice if you can believe it!)

Jared bought the "hard hat" as a gift for Jack.

The lessons did get kind of tedious at times but the kids enjoyed doing several sets of homework together, and overall, they really enjoyed the experience - especially the simulation day. Along with the fun, I know they also learned quite a bit about a free market system. We hope to participate again in the future!
