Happy 9th Birthday, Jack!
Nine years ago today, our Littlest was born! Nine years since he was supposed to be called Nathaniel, but I took one look at him and declared, "You are no Nathaniel!" And so, our Littlest remained unamed throughout his hospital stay (much to his dad's anxiety and dismay.)
Nine years since he was born with a growth on his neck, and my OB prayed over us and over him, asking that "this growth would amount to nothing" and later on, it did!
Nine years since we learned that our Littlest would not be so sweet during those early months. He and I both cried from his endless of hours of colicky screaming and feeding issues (due to swallowing and aspirating problems as we would later learn.) We spent hundreds of dollars on gripe water to soothe his aching tummy. He screamed so much that we nicknamed our bed "The Sleep Deprivation Chamber," and my pediatrician warned me, "Lydia, if you don't get any sleep soon, we'll be hearing about you on the news!"
But look at him now! Affectionate & funny, entertaining and smart, and oh so darn curious!
We love you, Jack Austin Staggers, and can't imagine our world without you! (Even if you have aged us a little bit :-))
Happy 9th Birthday!
Love,
Mama and Daddy
